Rich in history and heritage, Bhawal Pargana later emerged administratively as Gazipur District. Rajkumar Ramendra Narayan Prakash Bhawal The mysterious legend about the demise and return of Raja Sannyasi is like a fairy tale. Rajkumar Narayan filed a case in the Dhaka Judge's Court which became known as the Bhawal Sannyasi Case throughout India. Judge Pannalal Bose's historic judgment was upheld by the Calcutta High Court in the Privy Council. On 18 December 1978, Gazipur Sub-Division was elevated. Gazipur was established as district on 1st March 1984. On July 1, 1982, Munsef Courts were formed in Gazipur district with five Upazila Courts and one Thana Court (Tongi). Later on 17/12/1984 AD the District Court was created.Gazipur was established as district on 1st March 1984. On 15/01/1985 Mr. Md Abdur Rashid joined as the first District Judge. He started the judicial system with an Additional District and Sessions Judge and a Sub-Judge. At present, two assistant judges, four senior judges, three joint district and session judges, four additional district and session judge courts and Gazipur district judge court are functioning in Gazipur judiciary. Gazipur District Legal Aid Office is playing an active role for the helpless and indigent litigants.
Since the establishment of Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal in 2003, a District Judge has been conducting the proceedings as a judge of the Tribunal. The said tribunal is also functioning as a children's court.
Gazipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court was opened on 01 November 2007 during the process of judicial separation. At present Gazipur Judicial Magistrate comprising 12 courts of one Chief Judicial Magistrate, one Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, four Senior Judicial Magistrates, five Judicial Magistrates and a Juvenile Crime Court is conducting the proceedings intensively.
All the posts of Gazipur Chief Metro-Politan Magistrate Court have been created based on the official notification dated 30/12/2019 AD. The journey of the Chief Metro-Politan Magistrate Court started on 15/07/2021 after the local jurisdiction of Gazipur metropolitan area was determined. At present, Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate is conducting the judicial work with a Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and three Magistrates.
This town of Bhawal is rich in history, tradition and archeology of thousands of years. The Bhawal Raj Sannyasi case and its context, which originated from this town, have stirred beyond the boundaries of India and reached the Privy Council of India. At the beginning of the great liberation war, on March 17, 1971, the freedom fighters of Gazipur organized the first armed resistance. The judicial department of Gazipur has a close and inseparable relationship with the history and tradition of Gazipur. Amicable and respectful relationship between bar and bench has made the path of justice seeking people smooth and unblemished. The judicial department of Gazipur has taken multi-dimensional innovative steps to ensure justice to the people seeking justice.
